Decide on which path (category) you would like to choose – the options available are:
- Gamefish
- Bottom fish
- Sailfish
- Light tackle billfish
- Heavy tackle billfish
Start a fishing CV
include at least the following:
- Outstanding personal catches (you have to mention line class used)
- Competition catches (IGFA rules, 10kg line class) (inter-clubs, KZN champs, inter-provincial, nationals, international competitions).
- Bonanza catches (have to mention line class used)
- Social catches using 10 kg line class
Note: to improve your CV you should only fish with 10 kg line class or less.
Contributing factors other than fishing abilities:
- Good ambassador
- Team player
- Gives back to fishing (skippering inter-clubs, running competitions, clinics etc.)
Inter-clubs
- You are required to fish a minimum of 2 before you can nominate for an inter-zonal.
- You are required to do well in order for the selectors to see that you catch fish.
- It’s important to weigh fish every-day.
Inter-zonal (KZN champs)
- You are required to fish a minimum of 2 before you can nominate for an inter-provincial.
- Either 2 in your chosen category or 1 game fish/1 bottom fish
Inter-provincial
- You are required to fish a minimum of 2 before you can nominate for nationals.
- Minimum of 2 in your chosen category
Nationals
- You are required to fish a minimum of 3 before you can nominate for SADSAA.
- 3 in your chosen category OR 2 in your chosen category and 1 other
SADSAA
You are required to fish a minimum of 1 before you can nominate for Protea colours
