DSBC TRACTOR POLICY AND LEVY
- Any member who has paid a tractor levy will be entitled to a free tow for launch and recovery.
- The tractor levy accrues to the member and not the boat.
- DSBC members with S numbers – the levy will be billed automatically and identified as a line item on the annual subs invoice.
- The Tractor Levy is applicable to S Number members who launch their own boats as well.
- Any DSBC member who does not own a boat and regularly fishes on other boats may purchase a tractor levy to avoid paying tractor costs on the day.
- Non-members cannot purchase a tractor levy. They are required to pay for tractor costs per launch, which are payable by card (No Cash – We are a cashless Club) at the Launch/Bait Room.
- A DSBC member who has more than one boat, whether the additional boat is registered with either club or not, will only be required to pay one (1) tractor levy per annum. Such members may launch any of their boats without paying a tractor fee.
- Proof of payment of tractor levy – The member who has paid an annual tractor levy will swipe their card at the POS terminal located in the launch control hut, which will then redeem a tractor tow service which is allocated only to that specific members’ account. A tractor tow ticket with a sequential number for the day will be printed, which the member hands to the tractor driver. This serves two purposes:
1) Proof of payment of tractor levy.
2) Queuing sequence for the day.
Note: If you drop your boat on the beach, ready for a push pole and have a tractor tow ticket, you will join the push queue and will be pushed in the order that you join the push pole queue and not according to the number on your tow ticket. You effectively jump the tow queue and go straight to the push queue; this is to entice members to speed up the morning launch operation by using their own vehicles to drop their boats on the beach.
- A non-member who has paid for a tractor tow will also be handed a printed ticket to be used as proof of payment and tractor tow queuing.
- A tractor ticket will only be valid for the day on which it is printed.
- The tractor drivers will not tow a boat, be it a members’ boat or not, unless he has been handed a valid tractor tow ticket for the day, as proof of payment for the service.
- The tractor drivers will not push pole a boat, be it a members’ boat or not, unless he has been handed a valid tractor tow ticket for the day, as proof of payment for the service.
- In the event a member who has paid an annual tractor levy does not have his card with him on the day and is therefore not able to prove payment, he will need to pay via credit card for a tow, upon which he will be given a tractor tow ticket to hand to the tractor driver. He can request reimbursement for the tow cost at the office during office hours.
- If a member who has a S number on his boat and has therefore paid a tractor levy but is fishing on any other boat, be it as skipper or crew, he should swipe his membership card at the POS terminal and obtain a tractor tow ticket and therefore that boat will be eligible for a free tow.
- Disclaimer: Launching and using Tractors is done so at your own risk and the club will not be liable for any damages whatsoever to vessel using our facilities.
