Dear DUC and DSBC Members

Competitive Angling

Competitive angling at Durban Ski Boat Club has grown from strength to strength over the years. Our club has a rich history of having Natal and Protea anglers competing on a yearly basis. We have also dominated the local circuit and this is testament to the great anglers our club possess.

If you would like to come and learn about competitive angling and get involved, please attend a meeting on the 23rd January 2020 at Durban Ski Boat Club at 5:30 for 6pm.

Attached is some information on what it means to become a competitive angler and the road to your colours. We can assure you that this form of fishing teaches you so much about the sport of fishing and increases your catch rate.

We encourage yourselves, your children and even your better halves to attend and get involved.

For more information please contact Justin Paynter 082 418 3332 or jtpaynter@hotmail.com

PWC Supports the Sharks

PWC members have the opportunity watch the Sharks play the Bulls from box seats at Kings Park while enjoying drinks at club prices. There are 45 x R110 tickets available for PWC members to watch the Sharks vs The Bulls from a suite at 7pm on Friday 31st January at Kings Park.

If you buy 4 tickets, you will get a free field parking ticket included. To book your tickets (members only), contact Paul on 0836570965. Tickets will be available for payment and collection from the club from Tuesday afternoon on wards. Please give Paul your drinks order when booking so we can make sure that your favourite tipple is available in the box (cash bar only – no credit card)

Beach Clean Up

One of our members, Julie Bartram, is arranging a Beach Clean Up on 8th of February from 8.30 am to 11.30 am along the Durban beachfront starting from the North pier heading northwards – this includes the “club beach” area.
For more information contact Julie on: julie@ewing.co.za or checkout the link in the attachment.

PWC Clubhouse Update

Now that everyone is back from holidays, there is rapid movement towards starting the fit out of the new clubhouse.

As you know, we have been given a “box” – windows and walls with electricity, water and sewerage connection points, so there is a lot to do before we can take occupation which estimated to be around May / June 2020.

At this stage a project coordinator, quantity surveyor, architects and Interior decorator have been appointed and on Monday 20th January, tenders close for the main contractor quotes. Part of the brief to the successful main contractor is that club members who provided their details to be considered for the fit out, are to be approached first to quote on and to provide the respective services required. So if you are wondering what has happened since you submitted your details, please be patient, you will only be contacted sometime after the 26th of January.

Looking Ahead

When the club moved from the old site to the temporary site, we purchased a tractor / trailer “people mover” to assist with the commute to the beach and back for the young and infirm.

Looking ahead, we would like to dispose of the tractor / trailer as this service will no longer be needed. In its place we would like to acquire two small golf cart type electric utility carts with just a front seat and carry bin. These will be used to transport stock to and from the receiving area to the kitchen and bars.

If any members are able to assist the club with this transaction, please contact Paul, the club manager – details in header.

See you at the club
