Annual Boat Survey 2011 / 2012 Procedures and Guidelines
Boat Inspection
As you have heard by mail and by word of mouth the boat surveyors have to
make a file up for you---it is part of their commitment in the process of the
survey. There has been much debate on where these files are to be kept. Let me
clear up the issue both for the surveyors and our members.
We suggest that you retain this file for your records----after all you may move
elsewhere, and will need this information going forward. We also recommend you
make a copy of all documentation and have this certified. Keep at home.
Regarding the club we only want a copy of the pink form (the white form) to hold
on your file----as per usual you will retain your pink form. This will be
confirmation that your boat has been inspected. We also hold on file past
buoyancy certificates that we were required to produce last year. Please
understand that the club will not be the custodian of all the information we need
to carry on our boat in the event of authorities asking for our details.
Regarding the pink form, It will be stamped by the inspector to this effect, and it
may well have an endorsement that you are still awaiting buoyancy certification.
To summarise, please ensure you have a file on your boat that is water proof and
contains all your documents---skippers ticket, radio licence and confirmation of
up to date payment, fishing permit, your pink form etc.
